Sanuma Ben has been attached with our company since inception. She wanted to financially support her husband, a rickshaw driver, thus she started her clay pot making business with an initial investment of INR 30000 which was used to buy a clay ball making machine. These clay balls are made of uniform size and shape in order to make uniform sized ‘Tawa’. In her fifth year of business she is now able to earn approximately INR 1000 per day from this venture. She has also been able to provide employment to 3 more people of the same locality through this business.
Sumaiya Ben, a master kite maker is a new customer of Light Micro Finance. Untill few months back, she used to take contracts of kite making. Sporadic demand by the contractor led to underutilization of time as well as less income for Sumaiya Ben. She used to earn average income of INR 80/day. Now with the loan amount of INR 15000, she has started her own kite making business and is taking direct orders from whole sellers. As both, productivity and margins, have increased she is able to contribute much more significantly to her household.
Shehnaz Bano’s family has a small business of notebook binding and making. The business required an investment of INR 30000 to purchase a machine to streamline the manufacturing process. With the help of our INR 15000 loan and support from friends, she bought the machine. Now the productivity has increased and with the additional orders execution she is able to earn INR 20000 monthly from this business.
Komal Ajit Bhai Panjwani started a beauty parlour business almost 7 years ago. But lack of funds made it challenging for her to operate it. She is one of our initial customers and enrolled with us 5 years back. With the periodic loans from LMPL she has expanded her parlour services and improved its ambience making it famous in Dholka town and attracted big pocket customers. This growing business helps her to match her husband’s monthly income from his general store. The additional income has helped her to send her daughter to a good English medium boarding school for quality education.
Syyed Kumarabibi has been running her broom making business for more than a decade. It’s a high asset turnover activity, where one needs a good lump sum to purchase the raw material initially. Our continuous loan support has helped Kumara Bibi to infuse money in the business at right time and multiply her turnover. Currently her four member family is part of this business and she is even able to employ eight of her distant relatives in the same business.
Nilofar Banu Imran has given us reason for sense of great satisfaction. She has a very inspiring success story for us. Two years back she approached us for initial INR 15000 loan to start a small photocopy shop. With the purchase of an old machine for amount INR 22000, she started her shop and since then she has never looked back. With the help of other small periodic loans from us, she bought Lamination and Spiral Binding machines and then with the two-year loan of INR 30000, she bought one more photocopy machine enabling her husband to also start a photocopy shop with many additional services, such as binding and lamination. There was a proud winning smile on their faces while telling us about their recently bought piece of land to make their own house.
Almost four years back, Jagruti Ben Patel decided to do something to support her family whose main occupation is Agriculture. Her in-laws are capable to take care of agriculture related activities; hence Jagruti Ben had enough time to run a store during the day business hours. She started a novelty store with her savings and looking at the customer demand she immediately felt a need to bring many more items into her shop. She contacted Light Microfinance three years back for an initial loan of INR 10000. Since then she has taken five more loans from us, has bought a sewing machine and currently runs the most popular ladies novelties shop in the town

Kite making sees seasonal demand, and with the help of loans from Light, Microfinance Nafishabano is able to work on a continuous basis. Her kites see huge sales during festival season and her income peaks during this time. She is also able to use her loan amount to set up stalls at various places to capitalize on the high demand during the festival season.
Saberaben obtained her first loan from Light Microfinance two years ago. The loan size helped her buy stock for her General Store in advance and at a discounted price. This enabled her to benefit regarding accruing more profit. She was able to reinvest a significant amount of the gain in her business along with improving the standard of living of her family.
Jetaliben has been a client for the past decade. She has invested her loan amount in stocking all kinds of clothes. During the festival season, she supplies her clothes on rent. With her first earnings, she was able to print and distribute pamphlets advertising her services. This, in turn, led to more footfall and a larger client base. She now operates out of a rented shop in the local market and plans to also lease the shop adjacent to it. There has been a marked improvement in the standard of living of the family with the enhanced income.
Sadhnaben has a thriving business making chapatis that she supplies to small food stalls. She makes an average of 1000 chapatis a day which requires 10 kgs of flour. The loan from Light Microfinance has helped with enhanced income and enabled her to pay for the higher education of the children; her son is aspiring to become a Chartered Accountant, and her daughter attends nursing school.
Ambaben is one of the earliest members of Light. She joined the program with lot of hesitation since she had little knowledge about microfinance. Initially she started with loan of Rs.5000 and bought a buffalo with the addition of some of her savings. Every consecutive year she bought a buffalo using loans availed and today she has 5 buffalos which has significantly contributed to her household income of Rs. 6,000-8,000.
